Advent Calendar

A homemade advent calandar surrounded by stationery

Santa will soon be on his way so why not create your own homemade Advent calendar, ready to count down the days until Christmas!

 

Help your children prepare for Christmas with this creative activity where they make their own personalised Christmas tree Advent calendar. All you have to do is hide little surprises for them to open every day during the festive season!

You will need

    White A4 paper

    Green card

  • check

    Scissors

  • check

    Glue or adhesive tape

  • check

    Pencil

  • check

    Colouring pencils

  • check

    Felt tip pens

Steps

Step 1

Download the template

 

You will find the model of the tree to reproduce, all the numbers and the cones to cut out.

Step 2

Print the Advent calendar template.

 

Print the page of the cones 6 times to have the 24 days of your calendar.

 

Prepare your materials.

Colour the different numbered days of the Advent calendar. You can also choose the already coloured version if you wish.

Colour all the cones that will represent your 24 days.  You can also choose the already coloured version if you wish.

Cut out all of the numbered drawings for the different days and all of your cones.

Step 6

After colouring and cutting, you should have 24 numbers and 24 triangles.

Now you can move on to folding each cone. To do this, place your cone face down as in the photo.

Step 8

Fold the right corner inwards, at the bottom corner, to create a curve (see photo) then keep rolling the paper until you get a cone.

Add a piece of adhesive tape to the back of the cone to hold it in place.

Step 10

Then cut off the top of the cone to make the edge flat.

 

Do this folding and gluing for all the triangles until you have 24 cones.

Step 11

Apply glue to the back of all of your numbers and then stick a number onto each cone.

Now that you have made your 24 cones and glued on all the numbers, you can move on to making the tree.

Cut out the 4 pieces of the Christmas tree from the template.

Step 14

Take your sheets of green card.

 

Place the printed template over the top of the green card and draw around each template.

Step 15

Then you can cut out the 4 pieces and arrange them next to each other to form the tree.

 

Glue the 4 pieces together using adhesive tape.

Step 16

You can now glue the cones to the tree. To do this, use adhesive tape or, if desired, strong glue.

There you go, your tree-shaped Advent calendar is ready! All you have to do is fill each cone with little surprises of your choice: little chocolates, presents or jokes… Let your imagination run wild!
