Create a 3D Paper Fish

Lots of 3D paper fishes laying on a blue background

It’s the final week of the Maped Helix Summer Super Stars campaign. The six-week break can feel a long slog – but well done parents and carers, it’s almost time to send the kids back to school!

We hope you’ve enjoyed taking part in the campaign and getting creative throughout the holidays. Our team has been blown away by the standard of entries. There’s certainly plenty of creativity out there!

We’ve made a paper mask, a collage animal, a 3D aquarium, a cute octopus and a balloon powered car – and our last challenge is to create a colourful 3D paper fish.

Don’t forget to post your creations by either commenting on our latest competition post on Facebook (@MapedHelix) or by tagging us in on Instagram (@maped_helix) for a chance to win amazing prizes, including stationery bundles and Alton Towers tickets. Find out more about the competition and how to enter here.

Have you completed at least three of our six challenges? Then you are in with a chance of bagging our star prize, including a Micro Scooter and a super Maped Helix bundle.

Step 2

Next, decorate your piece of paper with colourful spots or pattern of your choice.

This can be done either with small blobs of finger paint, felt tip pens or pencils.

Step 3

Fold the sheet into a triangle, spotted side facing outward.

Cut a first slit of about 3cm with the scissors, stopping 1cm before the fold in the paper.

Step 4

Continue by cutting multiple slits along the bottom of the paper, always finishing 1cm before the fold.

When you get to the end, cut the corner off as shown in the photo.

Step 5

Unfold to reveal the full square. Turn it over and apply glue on the middle crease.

Step 6

Fold all the strips on the right-hand side into the middle, except for the last small one.

Push down each strip so that it sticks to the middle.

Step 7

Step 8
