It’s the Summer Holidays, so let’s go for a fun activity that we can get creative with by making of a mini basketball game! Ideal for DIY enthusiasts and sports enthusiasts, this DIY allows you to help them towards developing coordination skills whilst having fun. Easy to make and convenient to take on holidays, this mini basketball game is perfect for organizing competitions with family and friends!
After making your mini game, hang it on the wall. Using a ping-pong ball as a basketball, stand at a distance of your choice from the target fixed to the wall. The further away you are, the more difficult the game will be. Each participant is allowed three throws. Write down everyone’s points on a sheet next to it and add them up at the end to determine the ranking. Have fun creating!
1 A3 cardboard sheet
colourful paper
felt tip colouring pens
plain pieces of paper
a pair of serrated scissors
5 paper cups
Gather together all your materials.
With your felt tip colouring pens, draw diagonal lines across your paper cup, covering the entire circumference of the cup.
Draw the same lines in the opposite direction to create the basketball hoop effect. Repeat this with a different colour for each cup!
Prepare 5 different coloured papers of about 3cm by 5cm with the zigzag scissors, as well as smaller white rectangle papers to place inside. Also cut 5 large rectangles of about 5cm by 7cm, to support the baskets, and a large rectangle of 15cm by 3cm for the title, with its slightly smaller white rectangle (13 by 2).
Glue each small rectangle to the coloured zigzag rectangle, and write the numbers 1,5,10,15 and 20 for each basket. For the large rectangle, write MINI BASKET!
Draw basketball hoop holders in the same colors by creating two nested rectangles, as in the photo.
Now paste the title at the top of the large sheet, and the basket holders.
Glue the numbers to the cups, and the cups to the bottom of the supporting rectangles.
The game is ready! Now you can play, trying to throw the ball into the basket that brings the most points!
