Notting Hill Carnival has arrived and we’re here with a great craft to join in with the fun! For carnivals, a birthday or New Year’s Eve, any occasion is a good time to dress up! With colouring pens and a pair of scissors, your child is ready to make their festive mask no matter the occassion.
This craft is suitable for ages 6-8+ and usually takes between half an hour to an hour to complete.
White sheets of paper
A pair of scissors
Maped duo colour felts
Maped glitter felt pens
Maped glitter glues
1 glue stick
Prepare the materials needed to carry out the manual activity. Download and print the festive mask template on a white sheet of paper.
Colour all the elements with colouring pens, coloured pencils… whatever you want! However, be careful with the paint, which may cause the paper’s shape to warp.
Add decorations to your carnival mask. Glitter, stickers, pompoms… let your imaginations run wild!
Carefully cut out all the elements that make up the mask.
Once the mask pieces have been cut out, prepare an elastic thread of your desired length (to be adapted according to the child’s head circumference) and take a glue stick.
Glue the decorative elements, feathers and leaves, to the base of the mask near to the eyes.
Use a pair of scissors, a cutter or a hole punch (a step to be done with the help of an adult) to create the holes that allow the rubber band to be attached. On the mask, mark two lines where the notches will be placed.
Tie each end of the elastic thread into the holes.
Your festive mask is complete! Thanks to the downloadable template, you can make many masks for all occasions.
