Random Acts of Kindness Day is a wonderful opportunity to teach children the importance of compassion and generosity. Incorporating paper arts and crafts is such a fun and creative way to celebrate this special day and also encourage our children to understand how being kind should be selfless. Here are some cute and easy-to-make projects that you and your little ones can enjoy together!
Kindness Cards
Creating and giving kindness cards is a simple yet impactful way to spread joy to those around you! Whether that be at home or for their teachers and/or friends from school!
Heartfelt Messages: Use colourful paper to make the cards and then decorate with stickers, drawings, and glitter – get creative! Write kind messages inside, such as “You are amazing!” or “Thank you for being a great friend” and share with your loved ones.
Pop-Up Cards: Add a surprise element by making pop-up cards. Cut out shapes like hearts or stars and attach them inside the card to pop up when opened.
Kindness Coupons
Create a booklet of kindness coupons that can be redeemed for various acts of kindness:
Coupon Ideas: Include coupons for things like “One Free Hug,” “Help with Chores,” or “A Compliment.” Decorate each coupon with drawings and stickers.
Top tip: We would recommend getting creative with our magic felt pens!
Personalized Booklet: Staple the coupons together to make a booklet. You and your little ones can then gift this to family members and friends.
Kindness Rocks
Combine crafting with a bit of outdoor fun by making kindness rocks;
Painting Rocks: Collect smooth rocks and paint them with bright colors. Write positive messages like “You are loved” or “Smile!” on the rocks.
Spreading Kindness: Place the decorated rocks around your neighborhood or local park for others to find and enjoy.
Kindness Chains
Create a paper chain to visually represent acts of kindness;
Paper Links: Cut strips of coloured paper and write a kind act on each strip, such as “Help a friend” or “Say thank you.” Loop the strips together to form a chain and seal with a glue stick.
Cute idea: Add a new link to the chain each time an act of kindness is completed. Watch the chain grow as your child spreads kindness!
Kindness Jars
Make a kindness jar to encourage daily acts of kindness;
Decorating the Jar: Use colouring felts, stickers, glitter, and ribbons to decorate a glass jar. Label it “Kindness Jar.”
Top tip: Our 50 piece colouring set would provide you with everything you could possibly need for this activity!
Filling the Jar: Write kind acts on small pieces of paper and place them in the jar. Each day, have your child pick a paper from the jar and complete the act of kindness.
Kindness Bookmarks
Create bookmarks to give to friends and family. Whether your loved ones love to read or you’re encouraging your little ones to learn, creating fun and unique bookmarks can be a wonderful act of kindness as well as encouraging them to read more!
Designing Bookmarks: Cut out bookmark shapes from cardboard and decorate with drawings, stickers, and positive messages like “You are a great reader!” or “Keep smiling!”
Top Tip: For durability, laminate the bookmarks but alternatively, a layer of clear cello tape will also work just as well in preserving your kind and creative designs!
Tips for Parents
Encouragement: Encourage your child to think of their own acts of kindness and how they can incorporate them into their crafts.
Participation: Join in the crafting fun and follow through on their wonderful acts of kindness with your child.
Reflection: Take time to reflect on the impact of these acts of kindness and how they make others feel.
These paper arts and crafts ideas are sure to provide hours of fun and creativity while teaching your child the value of kindness. Enjoy celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Day together and making the world a little bit brighter!
