DIY Craftmas: Snow globe cards

DIY christmas cards are always a wonderful way to spread love with family and friends this time of year! For our DIY craftmas series, we have picked a wonderful activity to do at home with your little ones; creating a personalised greeting card filled with love (and snow)! Recreate these pretty snow globe cards to wish your loved ones a merry christmas, (or write a note to Santa Claus!).

You will need...

  • check

    1 white piece of card

  • check

    Blank pieces of paper

  • check

    1 piece of glitter paper

  • check

    Pair of Maped scissors

  • check

    Pair of Maped serrated scissors

  • check

    Maped colouring felt pens

Let's get going!

Step 1

Download the colouring template and get colouring with your chosen felt pens. You can also create your own drawing to design a personalised background of your choice and vary the cards!

Step 2

To create the snowflakes, cut thin strips of white paper with the serrated scissors. In one direction, then in the other; you’ll get lots of little pieces of paper this way to create the look of snow! You can also add some silver glitter for a sparkly effect.

Step 3

Now we create the globe! To do this, use a transparent plastic pouch. Cut out a square that is the same size as your colouring page. Use the outline of the colouring page as a template and cut the sheet to the same measurements.

Step 4

Tape the open side of the plastic sheet and then slide the “snow” into the remaining opening. Close again with adhesive tape so that the paper stays firmly stuck.

Step 5

Now create the map!

Fold a piece of cardboard in 2 and then on the right side, draw a circle in the middle using a compass.

Step 6

Cut out the inside of the circle to create an opening that will be the window to the Christmas bauble.

Step 7

Glue down the colouring and then tape the snowy plastic on top. And to make it even prettier, decorate with glitter strips of paper or masking tape!

Step 8

The card is almost finished, time to add the base of the snow globe, the outline with a marker, small drawings and a festive message.

Step 9

There you have it! Shake your globe, enjoy the soft sound of snowflakes, and your creative winter landscape! Such a magical card to share with loved ones!

And there you have it! Your beautiful, handmade christmas cards are ready to be sent out to family and friends for them to enjoy.
