  • What does Maped mean?

    Maped is a contraction of the French name ‘Manufacture d’Articles de Précision Et de Dessin’ (manufacture of precision and drawing items).

    You can find Maped products in supermarkets, in specialised school and office supply shops, in stationery shops and on the Internet. Find a shop near you with our store locator.

  • What should I do if my product is defective?

    In spite of the many checks carried out on our production lines, some defects may slip through. Please contact our consumer service department by using our contact form.

  • Do you sell spare parts for your products?

    We only sell finished products. If there is a problem with the product, please contact our consumer service department by using our contact form.

  • How can I get a product catalogue?

  • Are Maped products tested on animals?

    No, Maped, Maped Creativ, Maped Picnik and Joustra products are not tested on animals.

  • Do Maped products contain products of animal origin?

    Some Maped, Maped Creativ and Joustra products contain products of animal origin: beeswax, duck and goose feathers, ox bones.

    Why? Beeswax makes for much more beautiful colours when used in colouring crayons. The ox bone we use for our folder has better mechanical properties than plastic: it does not heat up, is less flexible and therefore stronger.

     

    Maped products are never tested on animals.

  • What is FSC TM Label?

    FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council™) is a global, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forest management worldwide. FSC takes care of the forests, but also of the air, water, animals and people, for responsible, sustainable forest management. This environmental label was created in 1993 in Toronto. FSC has since been transferred to Bonn, Germany, in 2003. The FSC logo is used to indicate that products are certified according to the FSC standard, which monitors companies in the value chain from the forest to the finished product. When you see the FSC logo on product packaging, you can buy forest products with confidence and help ensure that our forests are preserved for future generations. FSC certification is valid for five years with a surveillance audit every year. Maped is an FSC-certified company under the license number (FSC-C156374) and registered in the international FSC public database (https://info.fsc.org).

  • What does “Washable ink” mean and how do you wash out felt-tip stains?

    An ink is washable when 100% of the marks on the fabric disappear after a maximum of three washes. For a washable ink stain: clean the spot immediately, pre-treat with a “Marseille soap” type bar of soap or a little laundry detergent, leave it to work and then machine wash at 40°.

  • What does “Ultra-Washable ink” mean and how do you wash out felt-tip stains?

    An ink is ultra-washable if 100% of the marks disappear from the hands and fabric after one wash. On the hands: the marks will come off in warm water. You can use soap for the more stubborn parts. On fabric: wash as quickly as possible with your usual laundry detergent at 40°.

  • What should you do if you swallow Maped felt-tip marker ink?

    There is no particular danger if swallowed, as the ink is non-toxic and complies with a very strict list of ingredients imposed by European regulations. These products meet the strict requirements of the Toy Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys. In addition, the quantity of ink is extremely small (about 2 g). However, if in doubt, we recommended you consult your doctor for medical advice.

  • Does the paint have an expiry date?

    Each pot of paint is marked with the date of manufacture. Add three years to this date to get the expiry date.

  • How do I wash out paint spots?

    For washable paint, wash immediately by pre-treating the stain before washing with a “Marseille soap” type bar of soap, a stain remover or by applying laundry detergent beforehand. Leave it to work and then wash with your usual laundry detergent at 40°.

  • What should you do if you swallow Maped paint?

    Our paint is a water-based paint mainly composed of calcium carbonate, thickener, mould inhibitor, a suspension agent, organic and inorganic dispersing agents, and water-based pigment. Our products are CE marked and comply with toy safety requirements. However, if in doubt, we recommended you consult your doctor for medical advice.

  • What should you do if you swallow Maped Early Age finger paint?

    There is no particular danger if finger paint is swallowed, as the ink is non-toxic and complies with a very strict list of ingredients imposed by European regulations. This product meets the strict requirements of the Toy Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys and more specifically part 7 of the EN71 standard which concerns finger paints. To prevent possible ingestion, bittering agents have been incorporated into the formulation. Children are quickly repelled by the taste if they put the product in their mouths.

  • My "Unbreakable" rule is broken. What should I do?

    Our ‘Unbreakable’ drafting tools range has been designed to be unbreakable under ‘normal conditions of use’, i.e. when used for tracing (see the notice on the product packaging). This ‘Unbreakable’ designation can tempt people to push the limits of the product to check its veracity. However, the products in our unbreakable drafting tools range are not designed to be bent with force. Your drafting tool may have broken due to a defect. Despite the numerous checks on our production lines, some defects may escape our vigilance. If this is the case, please use our contact form to contact our Customer Services department.

  • What is the Dust Free function?

    The Dust Free function means that the eraser will produce less residue than an eraser without this function.

  • There are still a few marks on my erasable board. How do I make it look like new?

    Use a window cleaning product to wash off any marks left on your erasable board.

  • How do I refill my Automatic mechanical pencil?

    Refill your Automatic mechanical pencil in the same way as a normal mechanical pencil, by removing the eraser and filling it from the top. The Automatic mechanical pencil is different from other mechanical pencils because it makes your life easier: you no longer have to click to start the lead. When you touch the paper and write, the lead comes out automatically.

  • How do I refill my Reload - Fountain Pen and Reload - Roller pen?

    Refill your Reload pen (fountain or roller) in one click! Do not unscrew your Reload fountain pen or roller pen to refill it. The pen can be refilled from the side (by sliding horizontally). Insert the cartridge and refasten it with one click. Clean and quick.

  • Are there any products designed to suit left-handed people?

    Yes, Maped offers a selection of products designed to suit left-handed people: pencil sharpeners, drafting tools kits, scissors and pens.

  • What is the best way to use my Custom permanent markers?

  • Where can I find Maped Creativ products?

    You can find Maped Creativ products in specialised toy shops, in supermarkets and on the Internet. Find a shop near you with our store locator.

  • Is it possible to ingest the ink from the felt-tips when using BlowPen Art?

    There is no risk of inhaling the ink when using BlowPen Art, as the system consists of blowing on the tip of a felt-tip pen. If the child sucks, they will suck air. Our Blowpen Art products have been tested according to the toy standard and the material used for the mouthpiece is food safe.

  • My Maped Creativ product or kit is incomplete, what can I do?

  • The image on my Lumi Board seems blurred, what can I do?

    The LED on your Lumi Board has been selected to protect children’s eyes. Due to a change in the LED regulations for toys (only Class 1 LEDs), we have changed the LED lamp in our Lumi Board. That is why our light board looks blurry, it is to protect children’s eyes. Ideally, the Lumi Board should be used in a room with indirect ambient light.

  • How do I use the sun visor on my Lumi Board?

    You will find a special slot on the top of the Lumi Board where you can fit and use the sun visor. Please refer to the instructions for use included in your kit to make the best use of the sun visor.

Maped Picnik

  • Are the Maped Picnik products guaranteed BPA free?

    All our products are guaranteed BPA-free.

  • Do the Maped Picnik products comply with food regulations?

    All our products have been tested by a certified laboratory (SGS) to make sure that they comply with the food contact regulations of the European Union and the United States.

  • What type of materials are used in the Maped Picnik products?

    We carefully select materials that comply with food contact regulations.The two main plastics used in our water bottles and lunch boxes are polypropylene, ABS and tritan. We are using borosilicate glass and inox grade 304 and 430.

  • Should I wash the Maped Picnik products before the first use?

    All our products should be washed with soapy water or in the dishwasher according to the instructions on the packaging before they are used for the first time. It is advisable to remove all adhesive labels before the first wash.

  • Are the Maped Picnik products dishwasher safe?

    Most of our products are dishwasher safe. For the following products, we recommend hand washing: stainless steel bottle bodies and lids and propeller tops with the references 870011, 870012, 870016, 870017. The inside of the lunch bags can be cleaned with a damp sponge. The bags are not machine washable.

     

  • Are the Maped Picnik products fridge safe?

    All our products are designed to be used in the fridge, except the lunch bags.

  • Are the Maped Picnik products freezer safe?

    Only the lunch box refrences 870011, 870012, 870016, 870017 is designed to be used in the freezer.

     

  • Can I use the lunch boxes, dinner plates and snack box in the microwave?

    All the boxes can be used to reheat food in the microwave. Boxes with a valve on the lid can be microwaved with the lid and valve open. Boxes that do not have a valve on the lid can be microwaved without the lid.

  • Are the lunch boxes oven safe?

    Only boxes or plates with a glass base can be put in the oven, taking care to remove the lid.

  • What can I do if my lunch box gets stained with tomato or curry sauce?

    Some foods, like tomato or curry based sauces can stain plastic containers. If stains appear, they can be reduced by applying a paste of baking soda and water, followed by a careful rinsing. You can safely continue to use your products for repeated food use.

  • Can I remove the spin lock from the lunch and snack boxes for washing?

    You can occasionally remove the lid’s propeller. To remove the propeller: put the propeller in the open position and pull the propeller by the top.

  • Can I remove the lid's seal to clean it?

    The lid’s seal is not designed to be disassembled.

  • How can I drink with this new type of bottle neck?

    You have to push the bottle neck down with your mouth to drink. This new system allows the neck to automatically close when you finish drinking.

  • Can I use carbonated drinks in the bottles?

    Our bottles are not designed for fizzy drinks.

  • Can I put hot drinks in the bottles?

    Only the insulated travel mug is designed for hot drinks. Our bottles were not designed for hot drinks.

  • Can I put the bottles and travel mug in the microwave?

    Our bottles and travel mug were not designed to be microwaved.

  • My water bottle is leaking, what should I do?

    Check that the spout is screwed on correctly and that the seal in the spout is in place. If it continues to leak, contact our customer service department.

  • My water bottle is squeaking, what can I do?

    If your plastic bottle makes a noise when you drink, contact our customer service department. Your metal bottle should be used normally with the straw and in an upright position. It will make a noise if you drink without the straw and with the bottle in a horizontal position.

  • How can I clean the lunch bag?

    Clean the inner lining of the bag using a cloth soaked with warm soapy water. Do not immerse the lunch bag in water. Do not wash it in the washing machine.
